Flood Disaster Trail Repair Fund

Posted on: September 16th, 2013 by Craig Hoffman

Eldo State Park Road

The recent flooding in the area has touched every community around us.  It has affected homes, businesses and yes, even public lands.  With roads and basic services damaged, it is difficult for parks and land managers to prioritize trail rebuilding.

A new coalition of local and national organizations has formed to address the massive work on the ground that will be needed to reopen and restore our climbing areas.  These include the Access Fund (AF), the American Alpine Club (AAC), the Boulder Climbing Community (BCC), the Action Committee for Eldorado (ACE), the Flatirons Climbing Council (FCC), and the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). We invite other organizations to join!

All fundraising will funnel through this web site, and the money collected will be set aside in a “Coalition Flood Restoration Fund”, to be spent on trail restoration priorities to be decided by the coalition. We will also be coordinating volunteer events across our organizations. We will be working together!

Stay on top of what’s happening through the BCC website, Facebook page, or the sites and pages of any of these organizations. For email updates, subscribe to the BCC E-News on the right side of our front page.

If you would like to contribute financially to the rebuilding effort, please donate here:

We are a registered 501c3 non-profit and your donation is tax deductible. If you would like a receipt for your donation, please be sure to include your physical or email address.

Donations can be made by Paypal (Click the donate button) or by personal check made payable to “Boulder Climbing Community” and sent to:

825 7th St.

Boulder, CO. 80302

If you would like to sign up to receive notice for trail building days and times, please sign up with Tony Bubb and you will receive notification for events.

If you know of an existing access trail or path that has been damaged or has become unstable, please do your best to document that.  The BCC will be setting up a forum soon to collect that information and work with land managers to get things back to usable order and condition.  We would be grateful to have your help with documentation.

Would love to help but am so cynical about OSMP and their intent to open trails and access. Can you fill me in on their real intentions? Open a few trails and keep it that way because they don’t really want us there to begin with? I know you don’t know the answer to that question and appreciate your intent. And I would LOVE to help. I truly think OSMP needs course correction and a power reduction.

That said, I am happy to help. I just wish they were not such a polarizing organization.
